Aussiedoodle

Aussiedoodle

Aussiedoodles are extremely intelligent dogs that are also very active and do well in families where they can be mentally stimulated and get lots of exercise. These dogs also tend to bond really well with one or two people and for this reason make excellent therapy dogs. Typically Aussiedoodles don’t do well being alone and appreciate receiving a lot of attention from their owners. As all around friendly dogs, they are very affectionate with their owners as well as usually good with strangers and other dogs. Other dogs should be introduced slowly and calmly, and children should be taught how to properly play with the dog, but, once introduced, Aussiedoodles are great family dogs and enjoy the mental and physical excitement of being around other people and dogs. Aussiedoodles are generally very healthy dogs, they do have a tendency to drool though and require a moderate level of grooming. This breed also has a tendency for weight gain and it is important to ensure they are being kept active and have regular vet appointments. For smaller Aussiedoodles in particular, it is important to monitor oral hygiene, as smaller dogs are more prone to dental issues. Because of their impressive intelligence, Aussiedoodles are easy to train and do well learning new things. They don’t have a high tendency to bark or howl but do have a very high intensity and their energy needs must be met or they could lead to destructive tendencies. As Australian Shepherds are naturally herding dogs, you may see Aussiedoodles express this natural instinct to herd. Aussiedoodles are typically small to medium sized dogs, but their height and weight can vary greatly depending on the size of each of their parents. Their fur color also varies as it does in Australian Shepherds, and the curliness is typically based on the influence of the Poodle parent. They can weigh anywhere from 25 to 70 pounds, and be from 10 to 15 inches at the shoulder. These are just averages, however and the ranges can be even smaller or larger.
